There have three widely used standard in production
1. ASTM A312 TP316 pipe is an austenitic stainless steel pipe,it produced as per ASTM A312 Standard and designed for high-temperature and corrosion-resistant service,This standard include seamless stainaless steel pipe, welded stainelss steel pipe, and heavily cold-worked stainless steel pipes.
If project system request pressure pipe for above three type of pipe, ASTM A312 standard is best choice, and this standard is mature standard for make production. ASTIM A312 Standard include Grade 316 stainless steel, beacuse grade 315 contains molybdenum (Mo), which significantly enhances its resistance to chloride corrosion, making it ideal for harsh and marine environments.
2. ASTM A269 TP316 tube is an austenitic ss tubing, this standard manufactured for General service / Instrumentation applications.This standard is different with ASTM A312 TP316 pipes and usually called "Tube", Althoughmany customers refer to it as “pipe,” It general used standard for Heat exchangers& Instrumentation tubing&Chemical processing systems&Marine equipment&Food and pharmaceutical industries &Condensers and fluid transfer systems
3. ASTM A213 TP316 tube is an austenitic stainless steel tube designed for high-temperature and high-pressure service,This standard have strict request for production, so it especially in boilers, superheaters, and heat exchangers.Although many users refer to it as “pipe,” ASTM A213 actually covers seamless stainless steel tubes, manufactured with tighter tolerances and stricter quality requirements compared to general piping standards.
