Introduction

Monel K500 (UNS N05500 / Alloy K500) is an age-hardenable nickel-copper alloy that combines Monel 400's corrosion resistance with much higher strength. Through precipitation hardening with aluminum and titanium, it achieves roughly three times the yield strength and double the tensile strength of Monel 400. The alloy offers excellent resistance to seawater, hydrofluoric acid, and stress corrosion cracking, and can be further strengthened by cold working before aging. Ideal for marine engineering, oil and gas, and aerospace applications. Available in round bar, sheet, plate, wire, forgings, pipe, and fittings to meet various standards (e.g., ASTM B865, B127, B165) upon request.

Advantages

Applications

(1)Marine pump shafts and impellers: Monel K500 round bar is widely specified for seawater circulation pumps, fire pumps, and propeller shafts requiring corrosion resistant nickel alloy with high fatigue strength.

(2)Oil and gas downhole tools: Monel K500 seamless tube and pipe serve for non-magnetic drill collars, logging tool housings, and packer components in sour gas wells and high pressure environments.

(3)Valve stems and fasteners: Monel K500 bolt, nut, and stud are used in butterfly valves, gate valves, and choke valves for chemical processing, marine, and offshore applications.

(4)Springs and bellows: Monel K500 wire and strip offer excellent relaxation resistance and elastic properties for pressure switches, instrument diaphragms, and thermostat elements.

(5)Propeller blades and water jet components: Monel K500 casting and forging are applied in high strength marine propellers, pump wear rings, and slurry handling equipment requiring outstanding cavitation erosion resistance.
